We arrived at Trapani in the middle of the day.. It’s a very small port city, with narrow streets and some beautiful touristic area around. We weren’t enjoying the city as much, since we were quite tired at that time and the wheather was nothing like we were expecting, which was so windy and cold… Without wating till the evening, we then hit Palermo city by a regular bus which took about 3 hours.
Palermo turned out to be very different from what we imagined. It was incredibly beautiful till it became the only city in Italy that we want to live in! From the very first time I arrived, I fell in love with this city. It’s big, beautiful, many nice and moderns stores even with old and antique buildings, with its lovely people, close to a very nice beach and port, plus the price is quite cheap compared to any other cities in Italy!
Our host in Palermo were2 flatmates, Oscar an entrepreneur and Nicola a talented guitarist. They were so helpful that they showed us almost all the touristic spots in Palermo. We went to a beautiful cathedral, weekly traditional market, a park near the port, and the most amazing one, we got to Catacombe dei Cappuccini which was a museum for dead people! There were more than thousands dead bodies there, stored from 1.500 AD, read this link for more information.
One of the dead bodies
Dead bodies that hung and placed. Some of them are still in a good shape, we still even could see their hair and nails
In our last days, Oscar took us to some local places to try a very cheap local wine (it was 1 euro for a full glass of wine), and saw a talented bartender who’s making many different drinks full with its stories and histories, and tried a delicious seafood at a nice beach close to Palermo.
